Sharing of Patient Medical Information
From the Autumn 2013 under the power of the Health and Social Care Act 2012 the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) can obtain confidential information from your medical records to be used by the NHS to improve the services offered to enable the NHS to provide the best possible care for everyone. The information along with your postcode and NHS Number, but not your name, are sent to a secure system where it can be linked with other health information. This allows those planning NHS services or carrying out medical research to use information from different parts of the NHS in a way which does not identify you.
For more information please visit www.nhs.uk/caredata
If you do not wish for your data to be used in this way please inform the Practice and we will ensure that the appropriate code is attached to your records to avoid this happening.
